And the Eunuchs voiced their opinions

Funny world, funny ideas, funny life. In this afternoon as the sun is shining high in the sky and life approaches another lovely December I see the news channels flashing events happening in Mumbai.

It is intriguing to know the balls of the young terrorists - who are ready to die for a mission. Only wish this kind of passion could be infused to produce better results for mankind and not destruction. Sitting back here I only feel sorry for the innocent people and terrorists back there because I believe that every action, whether producing a great result or a disastrous results, seeds out of a positive intention.

But then why does a positive intent create a disastrous result. I feel the only reason being - the positive intent arises out of fear, and not out of love. We as humans either act out of love or else out of fear. I believe that the positive intent of the terrorists here is defined by fear and that why it is causing a disastrous result.

All of us are just fighting the effect and not the cause of the attack. In fact other day I was having a conversation with a very dear friend of mine who is also my mentor - who told me that we as humans never really understand how to run our brains and that’s the reason we have quite a great amount of stress in our lives.

And as I heard those words, I realized how true they were and it made me dwell little further to make me understand that we operate in patterns which are repeated day in, day out in our actions and eventually the results.

“If we are not producing desired results in our life then the only inference from it is that we are not performing the right actions.”

And perhaps this is the reason why till today in our country we are facing issues about Hindu- Muslim unrest, equality of the minority and so on...

I was reading the newspaper where there were a few opinions of people as to the way we should behave on these attacks. The opinion said, ” We must do what America did after 9/11.” There was another which said,”We must get strong.”

The only thing I felt after reading all that bull shit is that “Barking dogs, seldom bite.” And we are nothing but barking dogs who can voice our opinions. Rather we are just like eunuchs who can do nothing but clap.

In fact voicing my opinion here makes me one amongst them, because I can also just talk and write ( its easy to sit out in front of the laptop and write anything and yes, I realize it) but do nothing about it.

But then that’s life - you make a living on others misery, like the news channels earn advertisements when they get news like this. The newspapers do better business because everyone wants to know, after all we must have knowledge about the current affairs or else how will you communicate to others in your office, since everyone will be talking about these issues only.. He He. This is life...

And lastly, writers like me get a chance to scribble down something
which I feel are just random thoughts which will certainly add no value to the people suffering or the future suffering to come.

God bless all.

Agree... most actions arise out of fear or love.. but in the case of terrorists and their evil actions... what fear could possibly motivate them to kill innocent civilians and, in the case of Muslim terrorism, even members of their own faith?

Firstly, thanks for your valuable inquiry. The fear that drives them is significance. As human beings all of us have a need to feel significant. Many of us find that significance through our loved ones, our jobs or work, our discipline etc.

But then what happens to people who are struggling to find significance in their lives. Most of them resort to unfair means. I would like to share a small example with you here - an infant if neglected for too long might simply cry to gain attention of her mother, it just wants the mother around. No particular reason but the child just feels protected and significant.

In the same manner these terrorists want to find significance for which they are using the name of religion. And religion is a very generic term, not having a definite meaning. It is manipulated in various ways and taught to us since childhood. And whatever we are exposed to since childhood becomes our Conviction and as my friend Tony Robbins says, ”We don’t question our convictions” Hence these men operate on their absolute conviction that they are doing the right. For them it is significance in the from of victory for their religion.

I would only say that the terrorists have been exposed to wrong education thats why they behave this way. As spiritual teacher Osho says, ”An unconscious man is not a man at all.” I would say that these people behave out of their unconscious. They never really sit back and think what really is the purpose of their action and what it will cost themselves, their families and beyond everything else - the generations to come.

We are unaware and hence at times stupid and as the saying goes, an act once done cannot be undone. Even though the terrorists may realize they are doing wrong at the moment, they cant really think beyond and they continue with their own action. Thats life

Dear Rohit,

Very well written article and aptly describes the state of mind of people like us, who are feeling absolutely helpless in situations like this.

We need to find a way to flush out the eunuch that lurks in each one of us.That needs to be done within us before we go around asking people to stand up against this terror

I value your appreciation and thoughts dear Ashoka. Mother Teresa had once said a wonderful thing Ashoka, ”If each of us could just clean the doormats of our own house, the world would be a beautiful place to live.”

In the same way Ashoka if we all remove our fears and make our actions out of love, we are sure to earn happiness and only then we can spread it. Remember, we cannot give something we dont have. If we have happiness inside us only then can we give happiness to others.

”Joy spread, is joy earned.”

God Bless you
